Your Tech Startup Could Score $100K to Tackle Miami's Affordable Housing Crisis – But Time Is Running Out!

Miami-Dade Throws Down a $300,000 Gauntlet to Tech Innovators

MIAMI – In a bold move to combat its notoriously difficult affordable housing landscape, Miami-Dade County is turning to the tech world for answers—and it's bringing a significant cash prize to the table.

The Miami-Dade Innovation Authority (MDIA) has officially launched its sixth Public Innovation Challenge, a high-stakes call to arms for tech companies to develop groundbreaking solutions that can simplify the maze of accessing affordable housing for residents.

This isn't just another talking point. In a powerful collaboration with the Miami-Dade County Department of Housing & Community Development (HCD), the Office of Innovation & Economic Development (OIED), and the advocacy group Miami Homes For All, the county is putting serious funding behind the initiative. At least three winning companies will each be awarded a substantial $100,000 grant.

But this isn't just prize money. The funding is specifically earmarked for the selected companies to pilot and validate their technologies in a real-world setting, working directly with the county's housing department. The challenge seeks to leverage the power of data and modern technology to solve two key problems: streamlining the complex process of placing residents into available housing and dramatically improving the effectiveness of how the county communicates and engages with them.

Who Can Answer the Call?

The opportunity is open to a wide range of innovators, from local early-stage startups to established global growth-stage companies. The organizers are casting a wide net, looking for the most creative and impactful ideas, regardless of their origin.

"Housing, shelter, one’s place of abode, is not just a basic need, but a cornerstone of a thriving community," an official statement noted, underscoring the urgency of the initiative. By injecting technology into the system, the county hopes to create a more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly experience for thousands of residents in need.

The Clock is Ticking

Innovators with a vision for a better housing system need to act fast. The deadline for submitting proposals is September 5th. This challenge represents a unique opportunity for a tech company not only to secure significant non-dilutive funding but also to implement its solution at scale and make a tangible difference in one of America's most dynamic metropolitan areas.

Interested companies are urged to submit their proposals through the official challenge portal at https://mdia.miami/housing before the deadline expires.
